The renewable energy estimates and other information included on this website were compiled from many different existing sources, or derived using various models as described on the Data Sources page of this site. Neither the Land and Water Fund of the Rockies, Northwest Sustainable Energy for Economic Development nor any of the project sponsors or contributors (including the Hewlett Foundation, The Energy Foundation, TrueWind Solutions, GreenInfo Network, the US Department of Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratories, Bonneville Power Administration and others) make any guarantees or accept liability for the accuracy of the estimates presented here.
The maps and/or data contained in this site do not eliminate the need for on-site resource measurement, and use of these materials for anything other than general information is solely at the risk of the user. For example, weather deviations from long-term averages, local terrain effects, and site characteristics such as trees, buildings and other obstructions can significantly affect wind speed and turbine output estimates. Wind speeds can be reduced at up to four times the height of an obstruction and as far away as a mile or more, and small differences in wind speeds translate into large differences in turbine outputs. Project sponsors and contributors may not be held liable for any loss, damage or other consequence resulting from the use of the maps and/or data contained on this site.
